Surge Girls is an organization that formed out of a passion to come along side young girls in their journey through life. SURGE stands for Seeking an Ultimate Relationship with God Everyday, and that is what we try to do!

Looking back at my teenage years, I can definitely say that being a Christian was anything but cool. I grew up in a strict, private school where very little was tolerated. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was five years old, and I “worked” very hard at building good, Christian character the years that followed. The discussion of sex, drugs, alcohol, suicide, homosexuality, eating disorders and the like were very looked down upon and were never addressed. “Don’t do it” is about as far as that discussion went. So…how do you cope?

I talk with girls who have gay teachers with whom they have to respect and learn from at school. Girls who are sexually pressured and endure sexual harassment comments day after day. Girls who starve themselves to look good, play volleyball and fool everyone into thinking they are just athletically built. I don’t think pretending these things aren’t happening is really that pleasing to God.

Surge is a group that tries to address these issues through the eyes of God. What does He think? What would He say? What would He do? We really want to know! And that is why we dig into these things together-to learn more about the heart of God.

I am always looking forward to getting to know more girls and hear more of their stories and share more of their lives. These girls are the next big thing and the future. If you listen, they will rock your socks off and have you rolling on the floor laughing. God can teach amazing things through the hearts of youth.
