Don’t leave home without your Chapstick? Well, did you know it’s super easy to make your own lip balms for you and your friends?
Here’s what you’ll need:
Beeswax beads
Glass jars (like an empty jam jar)
6 oz. sunflower or safflower oil
Plastic eye dropper/pipette stirrers
Plastic pots or tubes
Essential oils for scent (optional)
Local craft and beauty stores should have these items available and it’s really simple!
Fill a shallow pot with 1” of water and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to medium and combine
3 teaspoons of beeswax and 5 teaspoons of your oil in a mixing jar. Set into the pot and begin stirring with a pipette. You can add essential oils one drop at a time, but no more than 10 is recommended. Use a clean pipette to draw the lip balm up inside and then fill each container to the rim and let sit for 20 minutes. Discard the pipettes, pour any leftover balm into a paper cup and dispose. If lip balm has hardened in the jar, simply return it to a boil to melt before wiping it off with a paper towel.
